Poetry by Cee Martinez

Dandelion

Stars gone from eyes the prize the size
Of moon in front of sun
Slit cat’s smile
My cough your laugh
Hairball I’m a housecat on your cock
Moon gone from heart this part
Sized up sunburned seagull
In the Kirk
Your hand it lands
The loosened tooth I spat while you slept
- - my lips bled both above below
- - my lips torn both above below
I peed on dandelions today
The thing one does before red makes fool
I accepted my flaws today in the way
I’ve always done for you
And disapprove
That I approve
The lifestyle I didn’t want
You want
My pull and fresh flush need
I want
My pull to push you away
I peeled a nutmeg today
The thing one does before coat hanger is tool
I loved your flaws today
In the way
I’ve always done for you
Say
I enable
I say
I’m enabled too
