Issue 2: Dead Stars Still Burn

Picture
Picture
Dearest moonchildren,

Happy (snowy, wintry) weekend and welcome to our second—very starry—issue "Dead Stars Still Burn"! "Dead Stars Still Burn" was inspired by Covenant's song with the same title, particularly by the refrain: Dead stars still burn / Dead still stars burn. Whenever we listen to this futuristic, spacey, poppy goodness we feel like we're not earthlings anymore (we all know we're really humoons, not humans, but let's keep fooling those silly earthpeople) and we've been transported somewhere extraterrestrial full of vibrant, explosive, flashing lights. When we opened the submissions call for this issue we envisioned it to be very (star)lit, and oh my moonness it is, it is!

This issue pays homage to all the spectacular celestial bodies in our skyscape. It also pays tribute to some of our beloved stars who left us in the recent years as well as long ago, but their legacy and contributions live on, their ghosts still haunt us (nicely, we hope?). We can't even mouth their names without bursting into tears, so we just won't even try. In part, this edition is quirky and funny, but it is also solemn and saddening. So prepare your tissues and maybe even buckets, whatever the reason for your uncontrollable crying will be!

Thank you to all the wonderful starshines who contributed and recontributed to Moonchild Magazine. Without you, this issue and this publication wouldn't be so (star)lit and wouldn't even exist to begin with. Without you, the community wouldn't be so thriving and supportive. We had a vision, but with your breathtaking craft, your continuous engagement, and your wondrous selves we all collectively made it happen. Thanks to all who supported Moonchild Magazine and the community from the start and continue supporting us; it means so much. We are truly moonblessed. May you all have a fantastic New Year! Make a wish upon a star, may it come true.

Therewithal, Prince once said, "Dearly beloved, we have gathered here today to get through this thing called life", and we'll just leave it at that.
