La Luna Roja

Last night
I witnessed

a red ring around
her.

No storm darkens
today.

Tonight,
we will see

si la lluvia viene
llamado por la Luna.

Te veré
You will see me.

Me veras.
I will see you.

Tiffany Chaney is a NC-based artist and writer, a witchy woman that still swings on the swing set and wishes on stars. "La Luna Roja" speaks of the red ring around the moon that used to warn sailors of oncoming storms. Red is also a color of passion, love, and the volatile energy of action/reaction; It's the silence before what comes next between two different forces or individuals.

Chaney's nature and mythology based artwork have been shown around the south, and her literary publications include VQR, Pedestal Magazine, Thrush Poetry Journal, Rebelle Society and Moon Book's Moon Poets. Her poetry book Between Blue and Grey won the 2013 Best in Poetry award at the Mother Vine Festival. Chaney is working on her first novel — a look at a young woman’s Descent into adulthood: the loss of a father and the relationship with a controlling mother; what a modern Descent into underworld means for a once goddess who is now just a teenage girl.
